Highlander - The Source
Highlander fans have something new to look forward to. A new trilogy starring Adrian Paul as Duncan MacCleod will follow an almost "Fellowship-of-the-Ring" inspired quest where Duncan and his friends (including watcher Joe Dawson and immortal Methos) seek to discover the "holy grail" of their world (i.e. the origins of the first immortal).
This trilogy could be really interesting. One of the biggest unanswered questions in the world of Highlander is why and how these immortals exist. If the film(s) are well written, acted and directed they could be some of the greatest Highlander material out there. However, I personally worry about the fact that End Game, which could've been great, "ended" up feeling awkward and unnatural. My biggest issue with End Game wasn't the story itself, but the fact that the character of Duncan wasn't consistent with the six seasons of the television series. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this new project won't suffer the same mistake. Adrian Paul is the executive producer (for whatever that's worth).
The first film is called Highlander: The Source and is supposed to be released in 2007. You can see a bit of the opening at the trilogy's web site (see link below). I'll probably see all three, but I'll only be satisfied with my ticket purchases if the film is more true to the television series than End Game was.
